Smart Start Learning Centres offer a school preparation program to children in the year prior to school. These lessons also include the materials listed above. The fee for private tuition (1 child only) is $50 per lesson and semi private (2 children only) is $30 per child per lesson. Private and semi private lessons are also available to expedite your child's progress. Fees are payable by direct deposit, cheque or cash. The following is included in the fee; - One hour lesson per week taught by a qualified teacher - WOW! I Can Read Workbook - Numeracy Booklet - Homework Book - Sight Word Book - Home Readers Fees must be paid up front for each term and prior to the commencement of the first lesson. Fees Classes run in line with New South Wales school terms and equate to $25 per lesson. Please contact us to discuss the timetable and availability. Location & Class Times Smart Start Learning Centres is based in the Sutherland Shire (south of Sydney). Children learn to recognise, represent and write numbers 1 - 20. They also learn to add single digit numbers. The ability to write their names without assistance is an important element at this level. Children progress from tracing letters to forming letters independently. They learn pencil grip, writing posture and are introduced to the correct way to form letters (NSW Foundation Handwriting). Children are taught to sound out words and develop decoding skills that will assist them in reading. The program introduces all of the letter sounds and ensures solid phonemic awareness of the English language. Program Content. Children may commence classes at anytime throughout the term. Small class sizes allow the teacher to work individually with each child and also foster social skills as children gain confidence and make new friends. Classes Children attend once a week for one hour. Our teachers The program is taught by a qualified primary school teacher. The program promotes a love of learning and the opportunity to develop important early literacy and numeracy skills necessary for school.
